Das Pilgern mit dem Kanu ist in Deutschland eine recht neue Form. Anders als in Kanada oder Skandinavien ist das Kanu bei uns nie ein Standard-Fortbewegungsmittel gewesen. Dennoch bietet sich das Kanu als "Pilgerfahrzeug" an, weil man die vertraute Welt aus einer völlig neuen Perspektive kennen lernen kann. Der Kirchenkreis Neustadt-Wunstorf an Aue und Leine gelegen ist gut geeignet, um das zu erproben. Die Stifts-Kirchengemeinde und der Kirchenkreisjugenddienst verfügen auch über eigene Boote.
